Root Canal Therapy

When a tooth becomes infected due to a deep crack or cavity, root canal therapy can be utilized to save the tooth. Treatment includes the removal of the nerves and pulp of the tooth and cleaning the infected area. Dr. Lui and Dr. Boudreau promise that you will not feel any discomfort during this procedure and it will often be finished in one visit.
Why is it done?
-Severe tooth pain while chewing
-Your throbbing tooth pain wakes you up at night
-Teeth that are highly sensitive to hot or cold, with the sensitivity lingering for some time.
-Discoloration or darkening of the tooth
-Swollen gums in the area of the infected tooth
How is it done?
First, we administer anesthesia (sometimes called novocaine) so the procedure will be as comfortable as possible for you. We will then access the pulp chamber to remove the diseased pulp and thoroughly clean the canals.  A sterile rubber-like material will be placed in the canal.  The root canal is completed after a final filling has been placed into the access preparation. Often a full coverage crown will be placed over the tooth that has had root canal therapy to protect the tooth from future trauma.
If you are experiencing any of the above-mentioned symptoms- you may require a root canal. Save the tooth and relieve your pain by calling our office at (781) 216-8097 or click here to contact us today!
